Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in wanting to help out. Lazy River cannot run without you (and others)!
We need help with all sorts of tasks, big and small, and are looking for lots of volunteers and a handful of staff.
You are welcome to request whichever role you want. Before you do so, please have a look below for descriptions of tasks and benefits. We will contact you to confirm your experiences, etc tasks, and then give you more details closer to the event.
If you have questions about volunteering, please contact us at volunteers@lazyriverfestival.com.
There are limited spots for volunteers and staff, and we may not be able to offer a spot to everyone who requests. Do not assume you have a spot unless we have confirmed you. If you have not been given a spot, you will have to register for the festival in the normal way.
Volunteers and staff must abide by our code of conduct
Volunteer & Staff Tasks
-
Tidy Crew (Volunteer)
Tidying volunteers are in charge of keeping the greenrooms clean, tidy and stocked during the parties. In between your dancing you will swing by to check if the garbage needs emptying or the coffee water refilling. When the party ends, you help us clean up before we close the venue.
-
Glam Crew (Volunteer)
Being a part of the glam squad involves setting up & decorating the venues before the festival starts. This involves moving tables and chairs, setting up the registration, hanging lights & decorations, and generally making the venue look fabulous. This work will be either Thursday late evening, or early Friday morning.
-
Activity Manager (Volunteer)
The activity manager plans, coordinates and handles set up for the social activities during the festival.
We want our participants to get to know each other and the city, and would like to offer them some social and fun activities. One get-to-know-each-other activity early in the festival, one daytime activity on the weekend suitable for party pass holders and should you have any additional ideas you want to put into life you are very welcome to do so!
-
Food Manager (Staff)
The food manager is responsible for bringing the teachers & bands their food drinks in the greenroom (stocking, or making sandwiches for example). You will also plan and organize all meals not included in their lodging. You might also get other small practical tasks during the day, such as shopping or ordering up lunch.
You will work 11:30-16:00 and during dinner slots on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but the workload will vary during the day so it will be possible to attend some classes during down time. You must be available for some planning work pre-event.
-
Venue Manager (Staff)
The venue manager is responsible for the venue and event together with the organizers. You will be the contact person for the venue. You are available to walk the venue before the festival begins (ideally 1 week before) You will ensure classrooms are prepared, sound is set, handle issues with lighting or air temp, make sure that everything is ready and that the venue opens on time. You must be comfortable speaking to other staff, the main organizers and the venue workers (whom speak German).
The shifts are between 11:30- around class end, and 20:30 and 01:00 Friday/ Saturday/Sunday, but there will still be time for taking classes and lots of dancing during the shifts since much of the work is only on call. You have good people skills, are calm and solution-oriented. You preferably have some experience with similar tasks. You preferably speak German.
-
Social Media Manager (event)
The social media manager is responsible for covering and documenting on Facebook and Instagram during the festival with our own content (photos and videos). This includes showcasing classes, parties, atmosphere, people and socializing in stories and feed.
Having some experience with social media and/or video/photography is an advantage, as is being self-driven and creative. You are expected to use your own phone, and we must be able to use all content freely after the festival.
-
Social Media Manager (pre-event)
The social media manager is responsible for covering and documenting Lazy River on Facebook and Instagram before the festival with our own content (photos and videos) in addition to actively sharing and engaging in tagged posts and comments. This includes showcasing announcements, classes, parties, atmosphere, people and socializing in stories and feed.
