Volunteers & scholarships

Thank you for your interest in wanting to help out. Lazy River cannot run without you (and others)!

We need help with all sorts of tasks, big and small, and are looking for lots of volunteers and a handful of staff.

You are welcome to request whichever role you want. Before you do so, please have a look below for descriptions of tasks and benefits. We will contact you to confirm your experiences, etc tasks, and then give you more details closer to the event.

If you have ANY questions about volunteering or are interested, please contact us at volunteers@lazyriverfestival.com.

There are limited spots for volunteers and staff, and we may not be able to offer a spot to everyone who requests. Do not assume you have a spot unless we have confirmed you. If you have not been given a spot, you will have to register for the festival in the normal way.

Volunteers, staff and scholarship receivers must abide by our code of conduct

Volunteers

Volunteer & Staff Tasks

  • Tidy Crew (Volunteer)

Tidying volunteers are in charge of keeping the greenrooms clean, tidy and stocked during the parties. In between your dancing you will swing by to check if the garbage needs emptying or the coffee water refilling. When the party ends, you help us clean up before we close the venue.

  • Glam Crew (Volunteer)

Being a part of the glam squad involves setting up & decorating the venues before the festival starts. This involves moving tables and chairs, setting up the registration, hanging lights & decorations, and generally making the venue look fabulous. This work will be either Thursday late evening, or early Friday morning.

  • Social Media Manager (event)

The social media manager is responsible for covering and documenting on Facebook and Instagram during the festival with our own content (photos and videos). This includes showcasing classes, parties, atmosphere, people and socializing in stories and feed.

Having some experience with social media and/or video/photography is an advantage, as is being self-driven and creative. You are expected to use your own phone, and we must be able to use all content freely after the festival.

  • Additional Roles

We have lots of things that pop up as we get closer to the event ;)

How it works: volunteer vs staff

Volunteers

As a volunteer you will work minimum 2 hours during the festival. Most tasks will not interfere with classes.
You are welcome to sign up for as many tasks as you want. We will confirm your spot and contact you with more details closer to the event. *If you are in need of a discount/free pass, it is possible to combine multiple shifts

As a volunteer you get:

  • Guaranteed spot at the festival

  • Our love and gratitude <3

You are guaranteed a spot at the festival if you register as a volunteer no later than March 31st
and
are assigned a volunteer task by us
and pay for your spot no later than April 15.

Staff

Staff means you will join us in the main organizing team to help with bigger tasks (sometimes before) during the festival. This means you may be busy during class or parties (depending on the task you have), but it also means fun, teamwork and new friends. And there will still be time for dancing!

If you are unsure of the best role for you, lets chat. Then we'll assign you one of them as we see fit.

Staff benefits:

  • Guaranteed spot at the festival

  • Free or discounted (50 % off) full pass/party pass depending on the task

  • A special staff Dinner

  • Often surprise perks

  • Be part of a wonderful team and experience the festival behind the scenes

  • Our eternal love and gratitude <3

Scholarships

For those who are in various situations of financial/situational need, we have got you covered. In addition to volunteer spots, we also have a few different types of scholarships from partial to full. Reach out to us directly - there’s no application. We just gather some basic info and go over details. Sometimes life gets in the way of dance, and we want to help unblock it. We also offer payment plans. Contact us for details: scholarships@lazyriverfestival.com

  • We offer full scholarships to members of BLHF. You can contact them or us for more details.

  • Are you coming from Latin America? Vietnam? A country with a very low income bracket? Traveling (especially long distances), plus housing can be a lot. Which is why we work hard to cover passes for people in this category. Contact us for details.
